Pixie Hollow Games is a television special which debuted on the Disney channel on November 19, 2011. Originally conceived as the fifth in a series of digitally animated direct-to-DVD films starring Tinker Bell, it was moved ahead in the schedule, and reduced in length.

Following the successful release of the first direct-to-DVD film (titled simple Tinker Bell), Disney announced that it would be followed by four more. The first four would each be set in one of the four traditional seasons, and the fifth was tentatively titled Race Through the Seasons. It would take place on Leap Day (2012, the year in which it was projected to be released, is a leap year) when the fairies have special Olympic-style games. A Disney press release described it as follows:

In this latest adventure, all the fairy talents compete in a challenging and traditional leap year race through the four seasons of Pixie Hollow. In this thrilling TV show, Clank and Bobble are the comedic race announcers. Bobble is a HUGE fan of the two 'Storm Talent' fairy's, Glimmer and Rumble. The film's release was apparently moved forward to take advantage of the hype leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games, which will be held in London. Although the film series' original release schedule had them coming out at intervals of less than a year, making a February 2012 release for the fifth one feasible, they have instead come out in roughly 12-month intervals, which would have delayed this one until after the Olympics. So this one (ahem) leap-frogged the winter-themed film (then known as Tinker Bell and the Mysterious Winter Woods). At some point, rather than being a feature-length program, it was shortened to 30 minutes. The title Tinker Bell and Pixie Hollow Games

was similarly shortened to just Pixie Hollow Games. Furthermore, the focus on Clank and Bobble seems to have been lost in favor of a storyline introducing Chloe, a new character, and pits Tinker Bell's 'garden fairy' friends against a rival group of 'storm fairies'.

Plot

The movie opens with the fairies making final preparations for the Pixie Hollow Games. Rosetta, who is afraid of dirt, freaks out when Chloe (a new fairy in this story) drops a lump of dirt in front of her, accidentally getting her dirty. Fern selects Rosetta to be Chloe's partner in the games, who reluctantly agrees. The night of the games, Rosetta wears a fancy gown, certain that she and Chloe will lose, as the garden fairies have had a losing streak in the games. Storm fairies Rumble and Glimmer come in, and they begin the first game, called leapfrogging. Rosetta refuses to get on, and the garden fairies lose. The next day, Rosetta and Chloe continue to compete, because the healing talent fairies couldn't. Together, they slowly move up in the standings. In the teacup challenge, they take the lead. Iridessa and Lumina try to catch up but use so much pixie dust they crash into the ceiling. Chloe then slides down into the slime but because Rosetta – afraid of getting dirty – is not with her, they are placed last, to Chloe's dismay. But Rosetta decides to conquer her fear and dresses in the garden fairies' uniform for the derby cart race, and announces she has a plan to win the Games. The race starts with storm talents taking the lead, but Vidia and Zephyr take a shortcut and crash, then Terrence and Fairy Gary try the pond but land in it, leaving just the garden and storm fairies. Rosetta and Chloe take the mudhill shortcut and successfully make it over and get ahead of the storm fairies. However, Rumble forces Glimmer to zap one of the wheels, causing the girls' cart to crash. They push their cart over the finish line together, defeating the lightning team because Glimmer refused to finish. The movie ends with Rosetta and Chloe celebrating with their friends that they broke their losing streak.

This is the best Pixie Hollow movie yet! Don't miss it!

Pixie Hollow Games is a 30-minute television special broadcast on November 19, 2011, on Disney Channel. Based on the Disney Fairies franchise, it was produced by DisneyToon Studios and animated by Prana Studios.[2] It features the voices of Mae Whitman, Lucy Liu, Raven-Symoné, Megan Hilty, Angela Bartys, and others, as Tinker Bell and the other fairies of Pixie Hollow in Never Land, taking part in an Olympic-style competition. It is based loosely on J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan stories, by way of Disney's animated adaptation.

It was originally intended as the last of five feature-length films in the Tinker Bell series of direct-to-DVD 3D animated films, with the title Tinker Bell: Race through the Seasons, and a release date in 2012. However, the movie was rescheduled and retooled as a TV special instead of a film-length movie. Unlike the previous feature films in this series, Tinker Bell is not a central featured character in this special release.

Plot[edit]

Rosetta is busy helping to set up flowers for the big night, when she meets a new garden fairy named Chloe. Chloe announces she has been training for the Pixie Hollow Games and is excited to be competing. Even though the garden fairies have little hope of winning and haven't ever won, Chloe is confident that she and her partner can turn things around and end their losing streak. When it comes time for the team selection, Chloe has already volunteered and Rosetta is selected to be her partner.

On the night of the games, Rosetta wears a fancy gown, certain that she and Chloe will be eliminated after one round. The storm fairies, Rumble and Glimmer, are the heavy favorites to win the competition due to their winning streak and having winners rings for almost every finger. The first event is leapfrogging. Rosetta refuses to get onto the frog, but finally does when the spectators yell in protest, leading to total chaos on the racetrack.

The next day, Rosetta and Chloe continue to compete in a series of games, such as dragonfly water skiing, twig-spheres, and mouse polo, slowly moving up in the standings during each game. The final challenge (a teacup race) arrives. Chloe dives down the chute with no trouble, but Rosetta nervously crawls down the chute, to Chloe's dismay. Rosetta's actions put them in last place, causing Chloe to start doubting her. Meanwhile, other teams start dropping which leaves only the garden and storm fairies.

Rosetta and Chloe take the mudslide mountain shortcut and successfully make it over thanks to Tinker Bell. However, in the last leg of the race, Rumble uses Glimmer's lightning ability to zap one of the wheels causing the girls' cart to crash. Glimmer is appalled. Seeing their cart destroyed, Rosetta and Chloe push their cart over the finish line and finish together. While Rumble celebrates his victory, Queen Clarion announces that the garden fairies are the winners. Rumble protests, until she shows him that Glimmer abandoned him just before the finish line for cheating, giving the victory to the garden fairies. Rosetta and Chloe broke their losing streak and they celebrate with their friends.
